Web

A website is a reflection of the organization it represents. The expectation for organizations to not only have a website, but a well designed one, has elevated considerably in the last ten years. From my own experience, I know that if I am curious about something or someplace the first thing I do is google it. It is nice to have prior knowledge before going to a new restaurant for dinner or calling to make reservations at a hotel on the coast.

Through the last few years I have learned many new skills in the area of website development and design. Here are a few samples of websites I’ve designed. I like to start with a mock up, fist hand drawn then created in Photoshop. An entire site should have a mission statement and key subjects determined before any design has begun. The key to a well-trafficked site is content, especially new and interesting content.

Above is a working mockup of a website for my favorite restaurant: Sagittarius.

Grow Modern Landscape Design

I built this site based on a design by Emiy Sapp. Grow Modern Landscape Design wanted a simple site that could showcase their talent and provide information on the services they provide. The site was built with php, xhtml, css and javascript. It's a striking design and I felt privileged to have the opportunity to bring it to life.

Autentica Restaurant

During my internship with Kitten Design, I developed a brand new site for Autentica based on a design by Emily of Kitten Design. The Autentica site is built with php, html, jquery javascript, and css. The menu pages can be updated using Cushy CMS. Starting with the design, I mapped out the site and then built up the structure. Utilizing current css tools I was able to developed an interactive version of the design.

Integrating social media within the site, also helps connect visitors with up to the minute information about the restaurant.

Backstrom Builders Center

A site I both designed and developed is Backstrom Builders Center for a lumberyard and hardware store in Bend, Oregon. The site is an easy to navigate series of pages that reflect Backstrom’s helpful staff and excellent products.

Through a bright yet soft color scheme that reflects both the business’s logo and their product, potential customers can learn about the history of the locally owned and operated business and are pointed to many ways to contact the builders center.

The site is designed to be a pleasant experience that encourages customers to go to the lumber yard and hardware store and check it out in person.
